Beth began with WPS in the Accounting and Collections Department 25 years ago. She became Vice President in 1998 and in 2010 became the Chief Financial Officer. Beth studied Sociology and Early Childhood Education earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Beth attributes her success in life and business to her ability to be flexible: “If plan A doesn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters – 204 if you’re in Japan.” (Claire Cook)
Beth, along with her siblings, formed Doing Better Business, Inc., (DBB) in 2013 to acquire the assets of Van Dyk Business Systems in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2016, DBB acquired Total Service, Inc., in Latrobe, PA. The acquisition of WPS from her parents will be complete by August 31, 2017.
A large part of the philosophy and culture of DBB includes giving back to the community. Beth lives this belief as indicated by the Service Above Self Award presented to her by the Hagerstown Rotary Club. Constantly involved in the community, Beth has served as Board Member for Food Resources and currently serves on the Board of Directors of two organizations; Girls Inc. of Washington County and the Maryland Theater.
Beth has two children; Jake and Jen. She enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, the arts and music, having played keyboard and fiddle in the band Hicktown for 11 years. Beth resides in Greencastle, PA with her fiancé Charles Palmer.
